A parent coach with their hair pulled back too tight and wearing a skirt suit would have intimidated me (imagine The Super Nanny). I would have felt intimidated, which would have restricted the benefits I could have gained from using the service.
My genuine, non-skirt-suit-wearing, approachable judgement-free nature creates a safe space where parents feel comfortable sharing their vulnerabilities. This honesty and openness enhance coaching effectiveness and results in the best possible outcomes.
It is without question that you are the expert on your child.
We will work together to enhance your existing knowledge and skills while identifying areas where you may benefit from guidance, information, and support to navigate challenges or new situations.
Our collaboration will fill you with a sense of empowerment, and self-assurance, and equipped with the tools necessary to confidently navigate your parenting journey.
Discovering the cause of the behaviours of concern is like completing a puzzle. When all the puzzle pieces have been put together the root cause of the behaviours of concern is unveiled.
No 2 families have the same puzzle, AKA- the root cause of behaviours of concern are never identical from one family to the next. Studies consistently show that the responsibility for behaviours of concern never lies exclusively on the shoulders of the child. Family dynamics, the home environment and the child’s community all play a part.
At best, a ‘One Size Fits All’ approach to parent coaching achieves short-term results, just as reading a self-help book would. It fails to leverage parents' existing knowledge and doesn’t pinpoint or address knowledge gaps. Furthermore, it doesn’t identify or target the root cause of the behaviour which makes it impossible to achieve long-term change.
It is for this reason my support is tailored to complement the uniqueness of each family.
Our time together will be customised to fit in with your family's schedules and commitments, all aimed at getting you the best results possible.
Following your free 30-minute consultation, our initial session will be in person, before a catch-up online. From there, you will decide how sessions will be facilitated - whether it's online, in person, or a combination of both.
During in-person sessions, I will observe the dynamics within the environment to gain a full understanding of the underlying issues that are contributing to the behaviours of concern. This enables me to identify and demonstrate the implementation of various strategies that will effectively address these behaviours. By seeing these strategies in action, you will gain insight before attempting them yourself.
In-person sessions aren’t limited to your home. I will accompany you wherever challenges arise, whether it be at the playground, the supermarket or kinder drop-off.
During online sessions, we will celebrate your progress, discuss how you've been using the suggested strategies, address any challenges you're facing, and I'll teach you how to implement new strategies to further enhance your ability to navigate the behaviours of concern.
To ensure you achieve the best possible outcomes, our time together will be all about tailoring it to suit you. You get to choose whether we meet in person, online or a combination of both.
